The Tampa Bay Heart Institute (TBHI) is a multidisciplinary cardiovascular center located in the heart of Tampa Bay, Florida. Everything about our program is designed with heart patients and their families in mind. Physicians and nurses are achieving some of the best patient outcomes in America, and our heart program is widely known for introducing new cardiac procedures and mastering the latest invasive and non-invasive techniques.

Chest Pain Center

Successful treatment of heart attacks is time dependent and must be initiated rapidly. When a patient arrives at Northside Hospital & Tampa Bay Heart Institute with a suspected heart attack, they are within quick reach of the specialized staff and equipment needed to diagnose and treat emergency heart conditions. We are prepared for heart emergencies--preparation that saves lives and quality of life.

Advanced Cardiac Surgery

Our two (2) cardiac operating rooms have the most modern facilities equipped with the latest technologies that are revolutionizing the way teams operate. Our remarkable technology projects images, from the surgeon’s perspective onto screens throughout the operating room in real time. Since the entire team has the same viewpoint, it’s easier to anticipate the surgeon’s next move, fostering better collaboration, understanding and teamwork. In fact, it’s so promising, other hospitals throughout the world have come to the Tampa Bay Heart Institute to observe the ways it’s improving teamwork in the operating room.

Diagnostics

TBHI offers physicians the newest diagnostic technologies and tools available for the most accurate diagnosis.

64-slice CT. Having your heart and coronary arteries evaluated using a 64-slice CT scanner eliminates the need to ingest drugs to thin your blood or slow your heart, and no hospital stay is required. A 64-slice CT scans can be performed faster than other CT scanners and provide physicians with high-quality images for better cardiac diagnotics.

Cardiac MRI. This non-invasive imaging system allows your cardiologist to see your heart mechanics to determine if further procedures are necessary, possibly eliminating the need for invasive tests.

Cardiac Image and Information Management Systems. Our new digital information system provides our cardiac team members with instant, simultaneous, and totally secure access to your heart images and information so we work as a unified team towards improving your heart’s health.

Cardiac Support Group

Heart Attack Warning Signs

Call 911 immediately at the onset of heart attack symptoms. Although some heart attacks occur suddenly and are intense, most occur slowly with mild pain and discomfort. Make sure you are taken to a hospital with an accredited heart program, such as Northside Hospital & Tampa Bay Heart Institute.

Between 20% and 60% of Myocardial Infarction (heart attack) patients have some symptoms up to four weeks before the attack - symptoms they may ignore or attribute to other causes, such as indigestion.
